Warmer, A Few Storms Today

Today will be partly cloudy and a bit warmer than yesterday. Temperatures will reach the mid to upper 80s this afternoon with a light northerly breeze. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms across central South Dakota and across southeastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa mainly south of I-90 this afternoon. While one or two storms could bring hail or strong straight-light wind gusts, the overall severe threat is low.

The chance of thunderstorms will continue tomorrow. Once again the overall severe threat will be relatively low, however, tomorrow’s round of storms will bring the potential for heavy rain. One-half inch or more rain will be possible with storms that develop, and that includes extremely dry portions of central and north-central South Dakota.

After the rain ends Wednesday night, we will will cool down for a couple of days. By Thursday and Friday, highs will only reach the low to mid 70s. I do have a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, otherwise the weekend will be partly cloudy with highs in the 70s to 80s.

A Sunny, Comfortable Start to the Week

Scattered showers and thunderstorms have been hovering between Huron and Mitchell overnight, bringing some much-needed rain to watermelon country. Those showers and thunderstorms will dissipate this morning.

We are off to a sunny, comfortable start to the week. Today will be mostly sunny with highs ranging from the low to mid 80s in the Sioux Falls area to the upper 80s along the James River to the low 90s across central and western South Dakota.

Tomorrow will be warmer with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. The overall severe weather threat is low, but one or two storms could bring hail or strong straight-line wind gusts. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible again on Wednesday into Thursday.

High temperatures will drop into the 70s by late this week. The weekend ahead will be mostly sunny with high temps rolling back into the low to mid 80s. I might have to add a few scattered showers and thunderstorms on Sunday into Monday. I’ll let you know more as we get closer to the weekend.

Smooth Sailin Through the Weekend

We are finally going to get a break from the humidity! Today will be with high temps in the low to mid 80s. The dew point will reach the low 60s today, which is still a bit sticky but nothing compared to what we’ve had to deal with the past several days.

I hope you like consistency, because there’s a lot of it in the 7 Day Forecast. Just about every day for the rest of the week, the weekend and into next week will be the same. Partly cloudy to mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 80s. Parts of central South Dakota will be a bit warmer with highs in the upper 80s today through Friday, low 90s through the weekend and into next week.

I don’t have much rain in the forecast. There is a slight chance of isolated showers or thundershower  late Saturday night and Sunday morning and another chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. I know there are places that desperately need rain, I’ll keep a close eye on our rain chances over the next several days.
