Sunny and Colder Today

A cold front zipped across the Dakotas overnight and that means there will be changes to our weather. The front did blow the clouds out of here… Unfortunately, it kicked the warm air out too. Today will be sunny, breezy and colder. High temps will only reach the 30s to low 40s this afternoon. That’s about 15 degrees colder than yesterday.

We will gradually warm back into the low 50s by Friday afternoon and then another front will bring more cold for the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Next week will be dry with highs in the low to mid 40s on Monday and Tuesday. Our long-range models are hinting at a warm, dry Thanksgiving. Stay tuned… I’ll have updates on the Thanksgiving holiday weekend forecast as we get closer.

A Warm Start to the Week

After a November of mostly below-average temperatures, we are finally looking forward to a couple of nice, warm days. The southerly flow responsible for the warmer temps is also dragging in quite a bit of moisture, so it will be mostly cloudy at times today and tomorrow, but that’s not going to stop temps from soaring well into the 50s.

Today will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs ranging from the low 50s in Sioux Falls and the east to the 60s across central South Dakota. It’ll be a bit breezy along and east of I-29 this morning, but the wind will gradually decrease throughout the day.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy and even warmer with high temps ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s. Temperatures will drop a bit later this week but will stay close to or little above average most days. Scattered showers are possible on Friday.

The weekend will be mostly sunny and cooler with high temps in the upper 30s on both Saturday and Sunday.

A Blast of Cold, Arctic Air

Bundle up! The coldest air so far this season has arrived. Today will be mostly sunny with highs only reaching the low to mid 20s. That’s more than 20 degrees below average for this time of year. Fortunately there will not be much wind so wind chill won’t be a factor today.

Temps will drop into the low teens tonight. Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy and breezy with highs in the low 30s. There is a slight chance of light rain or snow late Saturday into Saturday night. Otherwise, the weekend will be dry and a bit warmer. Highs will reach the mid 40s on Saturday, upper 30s Sunday.

Our big warm-up comes next week. There will be plenty of sunshine with high temps in the low to mid 50s on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
