Rain Ending, Becoming Mostly Sunny

There was plenty of rain overnight. Sioux Falls received over 2.8 inches through the night. That brings our total to 4.2″ since Saturday. When the rain ends, I’ll post a complete list of rainfall totals at KSFY.com. If you have rain to report, let me know and I’ll get it on the list. Tweet me (@shawncable) or drop me an email (shawn.cable@ksfy.com.)

The rain will gradually end from west to east this morning with clouds decreasing by around lunchtime. It’s actually going to be a pretty nice day. This afternoon will be mostly sunny with highs in the 60s.

High temps will stay in the 60s through the rest of the work week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will return Thursday and Friday.

As of right now the weekend is lookin’ good! Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny with highs in the 60s to low 70s.

Another Sunny, Spectacular Fall Day

Sunny, warm weather will continue today. High temps will reach the mid 70s this afternoon with just a light northwesterly breeze.

A weak cool front will slide across the Dakotas from north to south tonight. There isn’t enough moisture for rain, but temperatures will drop a few degrees behind the front. It will still be sunny, but high temps will drop to the upper 60s to low 70s tomorrow, which is still pretty close to average for this time of year.

The weekend will be mostly cloudy and a bit breezy with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible. As of right now, I think our best chance of rain will be Saturday night and Sunday. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 60s, but I’m afraid the wind will make it feel a bit chilly throughout the weekend.

Temperatures will stay at or slightly above-average into next week with a chance of scattered showers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sunny, Warmer Days Ahead

Our weather will be sunny, dry and warmer as we head toward the weekend. Today will be sunny with high temps ranging from the upper 60s to low 70s and that trend will continue through the rest of the week. Our average high for this time of year is in the upper 60s, so we will be at or slightly above average for the next few days.

The weekend will be partly cloudy with highs holding steady in the 70s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible by late Sunday into Monday.

If you’re not quite ready for fall yet, don’t worry. Our long-range models are hinting that there will be more warm (I might even be tempted to use the word ‘hot’) weather that lasts into next week and beyond. That’s still more than a week away, so stay with me for updates.
